Career Development To begin a job search:
  • Create/Update your resume
Create or update your resume . Resume writing tips, templates and samples are also available in Hire a Flyer.

  • Upload resume into Hire a Flyer
Upload your resume into Hire a Flyer, update your profile and job preferences, then view job listings and electronically refer your resume to employers. Save your job search, access it from Quick Links and designate the saved search as a Job Agent to receive an e-mail message when new jobs are entered in the system.

  • Make an appointment with a Career Advisor
Career Advisors offer assistance to all students. If you have questions about your resume or need help with interviewing or job search strategy, please call 937.229.2045.

  • Network
Networking is very important in finding opportunities that are not advertised. Distribute your resume to family, friends, and anyone else who may be able to provide leads for a good internship or position. Contact alumni in the Alumni Career Network in Hire a Flyer.

  • Attend other Career Fairs and Events
Research and attend events in the geographical areas you have considered locating after graduation. If the company is hiring majors other than yours, talk to the recruiter about additional opportunities. Research the companies before attending, take plenty of resumes, dress professionally and follow up with companies after the Fair by sending a thank-you note to the recruiters.

  • Contact Other Career Services Offices
Most college and university career centers have agreed to provide reciprocity of services. This means that they are willing to provide certain services to students from other universities. The services offered depend on each university’s policy, and some charge a fee. If you would like assistance in your area, contact a local university’s career center and ask them if they could help and what types of services they offer. They may require an official letter of reciprocity; if so, contact a UD Career Advisor.
